MAJESTIC ICE: THE JOURNEY

Picture
Majestic Ice Australia – Synchronized Skating Teams are proud members of the Sydney Figure Skating Club.

Majestic Ice was established in May 2009 by coaches Madonna Randall and Amanda Da-Pra, starting with just 15 skaters on a Novice team. In 2010, Aleisha Haslemore joined the coaching team, followed by Louise Woodward in 2015. Over the years, the club expanded to include teams at various levels including Junior, Novice, Level 4, Level 3, and Level 1, welcoming skaters as young as four years old.

By 2015, Majestic Ice had six competitive teams: Junior, Novice Advanced, Novice Basic, Mixed Age, Minis, and Aussie Skate. Our inclusive team structure offers opportunities for skaters of all levels to grow and thrive within the Majestic Ice family. We are committed to delivering world-class coaching and equipping our skaters with life skills through sport.

In 2017, Majestic Ice Australia and Fire on Ice joined forces to create NSW’s newest Senior team--Team Unity. That same year, Georgina Reilly joined the coaching team, contributing to the high-performance success of our upper-level teams.

In 2022, Elizabeth Meyers began coaching the Majestic Ice Junior team, leading them to national championship victories in both 2022 and 2023. Coaches Lana Scahill, Blaise Pearce, and Jasmin Fernando also joined the team, playing a key role in developing our Aussie Skate, Basic Novice, and Advanced Novice teams--the future of Majestic Ice.

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted our club. With lockdowns in place, all Majestic Ice teams were unable to train on ice for extended periods. Team Unity had been nominated to compete at the 2020 ISU World Championships in Lake Placid, but the event was cancelled. Despite this, our teams maintained strength and resilience by participating in online fitness, flexibility, and strength training sessions.

During the disrupted 2021/2022 season, Majestic Ice teams were unable to compete in regular events. However, Team Unity proudly represented Australia at the 2022 ISU World Championships, placing 18th globally.

In 2022, our home rink--Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink—closed down suddenly. Without a permanent training base, our teams adapted by training across multiple rinks in Sydney. Despite these challenges, Majestic Ice athletes continued to excel, bringing home medals and international nominations at the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 Australian Figure Skating Championships.

As of 2025, Majestic Ice proudly fields teams across a full range of levels: Aussie Skate, Basic Novice, Advanced Novice, Junior, Senior, Adult, and Advanced Adult.

Our club continues to shine on and off the ice, with Team Unity holding the Senior National Champion title since 2017, and our Junior team winning national titles in 2022 and 2023. At Majestic Ice, we foster athletic excellence, lifelong friendships, and a strong sense of community--empowering skaters to grow both on and beyond the ice.
